Warm up a cold fall day by adding a little Tuaca to your favorite drink.

Tuaca—a brandy-based liqueur blended with vanilla, and essences of lemon and orange—has a very distinct flavor, yet is versatile and can be used in a variety of drinks.”
My husband and I have both always loved fall; so much that when we were picking a date for our wedding years ago, we skipped right past June and easily decided on November. The afternoon before our rehearsal dinner, family friends hosted a hayride for our guests that included a massive spread of food and, of course, plenty of festive drinks. The most popular beverage was a Tuaca-spiked cider that kept all of us warm as we rode around bundled up on hay bales. At the time I wasn’t familiar with Tuaca, but it has since become a staple at our holiday family gatherings.

Tuaca—a brandy-based liqueur blended with vanilla, and essences of lemon and orange—has a very distinct flavor, yet is versatile and can be used in a variety of drinks. Most simply, you can pour Tuaca over ice and garnish with a slice of orange or lemon or a cinnamon stick for sipping while watching a movie or playing cards. Whether you want something cold, hot, updated or classic, I’ve included a few Tuaca recipes below that will help bring cheer to your celebrations this season.

Tuaca Cider
This basic cider is like apple pie in a mug. I’ve also mentioned a few variations if you want to introduce some additional flavors to the drink.

Servings: 1 drink
Ingredients:
8 oz. cider
1 to 2 oz. of Tuaca, depending on your taste

Directions: Start by heating cider in a pot on the stove. Use a clear cider without any "pulp" for best results. Once the cider is hot, add the Tuaca. If your guests have different tastes, you can first pour the desired amount of liqueur in individual mugs and then add the cider.

Variations
Add 1 oz. of pure pomegranate juice for every 8 oz. of cider before beginning to heat. This creates a lovely cranberry color.

Give your drink more spice by steeping a few Chai tea bags in the cider once it gets hot.

For a refreshing twist, add 3/4 oz. of ginger liqueur.

Cafe au Tuaca
Serve a variation on the traditional Baileys and coffee by adding Tuaca. The drink is the perfect complement to a Thanksgiving pie or can be enjoyed as dessert itself.

Servings: 1 drink
Ingredients:
8 oz. hot coffee
1 oz. Tuaca
1 oz. Baileys Irish Cream

Directions: Pour Tuaca, Baileys and then coffee into a mug and stir.

Off-course Sidecar
For the classic cocktail lovers in your family, recreate the Sidecar by substituting the Cointreau with Tuaca. The result is a pleasant combination of tart, sweet and spice.

Servings: 1 drink
Ingredients:
1 1/2 oz. Cognac
3/4 oz. Tuaca
3/4 oz. lemon juice
3/4 oz. lime juice

Directions: Mix ice and all ingredients in a shaker. Rim a cold glass with lemon juice and then dip in superfine sugar. Strain the drink into the glass.

On a cold night, any of these drinks will add an element of warmth. Whether celebrating Thanksgiving with many family members or reading a book on the couch with your spouse, Tuaca will make the Fall season even more enjoyable.
