Get a Tastebud Education at the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center
In the name of a Washington wine pioneer, this center provides guests a safe place to get all their wine questions answered.

Named for the late Dr. Walter J. Clore, officially recognized as the Father of Washington Wine for his life’s work studying vinifera grapes and their potential in Washington, the Walter Clore Wine and Culinary Center is an exciting wine tasting and education destination. It offers visitors a one-of-a-kind tasting experience with a selection of wines that changes each month. Each monthly selection presents the wines of a specific Washington AVA, to acquaint visitors with its unique growing characteristics. New wine and agriculture-themed exhibits will make their debut in the tasting room later this year.

Guests happily lose track of time here. The fascinating wine shop offers old favorites, boutique gems, and wines that may not be available elsewhere. There is even a section dedicated to wines made by students from Washington’s four viticulture and enology degree programs. Purchases of these wines support these academic programs, the Clore Center, and the student winemakers as they earn their degrees.

Wine and food enthusiasts also appreciate the Clore Center’s exclusive monthly blind tastings (each provides an in-depth look at a different varietal), along with its culinary programs ranging from food and wine pairings, to tapas demonstrations, to hands-on sushi classes. The Clore Center also hosts many parties, weddings, meetings, and events with two venues on the property and flexible space both indoors and out.

It’s not too early to mark the calendar for two very important Clore Center events scheduled for the second weekend in August: the Legends of Washington Wine Gala on Friday, August 7 and the Prosser Wine and Food Festival on Saturday and Sunday, August 8 and 9. The Legends Gala is the center’s annual fundraiser highlighted by the induction of an individual into the Legends of Washington Wine Hall of Fame. The Prosser Wine and Food Festival is Prosser’s marquee annual event. This year, it will feature more wineries, a wider variety of food options and vendors, and many special programs and events.
